Anime podcast of the week. November 26, 2013.

I haven’t done any “podcast of the week” entries for a long time. It is the first post since Summer, actually. And I don’t know if I will be able to keep the weekly format that I used to have. Biweekly format seems more doable to me. But we will see.

For this week I have found something interesting for you. I stumble upon a podcast named Method to Madness, that is what I going to present to you. Well, to those of you who are old enough to listen to a podcast where people swear that is.

Method to Madness podcast

Method to Madness

This podcast does reviews for both new and old shows. They made reviews for the stuff like Manyuu Hikenchou and Astarotte’s Toy, that I would not dare to even come close to, not to mention watching or reviewing. They made reviews for some good shows too.

And I want to mention how I ended up finding this podcast. It started when I run out of Fast Karate for the Gentlemen episodes to listen to. The only show that could fill the void was AWO podcast, but they are in a podcast come, making 1 episode every two months, so no hope there. There are some other quality podcasts out there, but they have different feel. So I was searching through Anime 3000 site and I found Method to Madness. So far I listened to a few episodes and I like some of them, so it is a good sign.

This time I am not going to post links to specific episodes, instead I will give you the link to the page where you can find all their episodes and you can pick whatever you want there. Here you go: alphacounter.com, Method to Madness. Alpha counter is where they publish their episodes now, they used to do it on Anime 3000, but no more.

Also I want to show you two episodes of another podcast. This time it is 2 Guys and a Mic podcast that I mentioned many times before. Some long time ago they reviewed two seasons of Rosario to Vampire. And for some time now I was wondering what this famous show is about and whether or not I should watch it some day. Thanks to Jahmere Durham and Mike Martinez I now know that I should not. Cheers ^^

Hope you like what I brought you this week. See you next time (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. August 12, 2013.

This week I present you a new podcast (new here, but quite old in actuality). The name is Anime Pulse. They have an official page, here. On their site they have at least three different series, manga podcast, anime podcast and the last one I assume is video games podcast. Today I am bringing you three episodes of their anime podcast (no surprise), where they preview the summer season. It is quite interesting to hear their opinions on the shows, based only on one or two episodes, now that we have seen about 5 or 6 episodes. And in each episode they discuss the latest anime news, which might be helpful.

Anime podcast of the week. August 3, 2013. The Wind Rises.

This week I’m going to give you two episodes of different podcast that are dedicated to the same topic. And that topic is Studio Ghibli movies. First is Anime World Order podcast and their 116th episode. In the episode they discuss new Ghibli film, The Wind Rises. Also they have Mitsugi from Anime Addicts Anonymous podcast as a special guest.

 Anime World Order podcast

As usual.

Here is the link to the episode – Anime World Order Show # 116 – Bizarro Gaijin Sex in Japan, Also Hayao Miyazaki Movies. Beware of mature content.

Next is episode 186 of already mentioned Anime Addicts Anonymous podcast. They discuss Ghibli movies, make top lists and if you are interested in the topic, you will probably find it amusing. And they talk about Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises) too.

And, by the way, for all of you who used to listen to fightbait.com podcast, they are back. They made a couple of new episodes. You may check their new episodes here:

PodTaku

And one more piece of news. Today podtaku (that is anothe ranime podcast I talk about some times) hosts will make a livestream. If you want to check it out, here is the link to the channel – Podtaku Livestrem. The time is August 3rd 7:00PM EST.

That is all for today, see you next time (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. July 15, 2013.

For this week I am again going to bring up three podcasts. The first one is an episode of Anime Addicts Anonymous Podcast. In that episodes anime addicted hosts talk about the first things in anime. Like the first animation made in Japan, the first CGI used in anime and so on. It is quite interesting on its own, but since it is AAA we are talking about, they have a lot more than that (like news, mailbag and reviews for the shows from the last season).

Here is the link to the episode – Episode 184 – Anime Firsts.

The second show for today is a review for Ashita no Joe (Movie), also know as  Champion Joe, done by Destroy All Podcasts. This anime is so old and rare that I doubt you will have a good chance of checking it out yourself, but at least you can hear a review of it. It was interesting to listen to.

Here is the link for the episode – Destroy All Podcasts DX Episode 101 – Champion Joe a.k.a. Ashita no Joe: The Movie.

And the last one for this week is another episode of Fast Karate for the Gentleman podcast. This time it is a review of Blue Flames, an OVA made in 1989. I am not sure if the anime is good, but I would like to check it out. It seems like it is an attempt to make a psychological drama, and I am having hard time combining psychology and anime from 80-s.

Hope you like the podcasts I’ve chosen for this week. See you next time (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. July 6, 2013.

Anime podcast of the week is late again. Well, this is becoming a good tradition (nothing good about it >.<). So, as an apology, I will try to give you episodes of three different podcasts in each post.

So, the first episode this week is a Battle Royal High School review done by Fast Karate for the Gentlemen podcast. The anime itself is one of those old and funny but gory anime from 80-s. It is really easy to watch them too, Battle Royal High School is only 60 minutes long, for example, and if I may guess, it will not require too much thinking and analyzing.

Here is the link for the episode: Show #324: AUGH! TIME POLICE!

Next podcast of the week is Destroy All Podcasts with their reviews for Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Farewell and Macross Frontier The Movie: The False Diva . If you haven’t watched Macross and if you are thinking that chances are you won\t watch it in the near future, you may want to listen to this podcast, just as I did. At least you will get some idea of what the show is about. You may even decide to go on and watch it, who knows.

Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Farewell

Here are the links for the episodes:

And the last podcast of the week is Anime World Order episode where they reviewed Ristorante Paradiso and Sword of the Stranger. I listened to this episode really long ago, but I remember it was interesting, plus it was the first time I heard someone talking about Sword of the Stranger at length.

Ristorante Paradiso

Anime podcast of the week. June 26, 2013.

This time I have another new anime podcast for you. Oh, not even one, but two new podcasts. Hope you like the diversity. It is not that easy to do too. I mean, I look at my list of podcast episodes that I would like to feature, and I see about a dozen Destroy All Podcasts episodes, so if I were to just go by the list all you would see till Fall would have been this one podcast.

But back to the track. This time I bring you Fast Karate for the Gentleman podcast. This is the first, and hopefully not the last time I feature this podcast here.

Fast Karate for the Gentleman podcast

By the way, when I say “new podcast” I mean that I have never featured it here before. Fast Karate for the Gentleman is an old podcast, it has almost 500 episodes.

The episodes I want to bring are reviews for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure TV series from 2012. Here are the names and the links to the episodes:

The second podcasts that I want to show to you is probably the most famous one there is, maybe even more famous than Anime World Order. It is ANNCast. This podcast is hosted on Anime News Network site.

ANNCast

The episode of ANNCast I have chosen is named Clash of the Supernerds, and during the episode hosts discuss some of the currently airing anime and whole lot of other things. It is interesting to listen to. Here is the link – Clash of the Supernerds.

Hope you like those two podcasts. See you next week (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. June 17, 2013.

For this week I have something special (as usual *_*). If you listen to the podcasts that I recommend, you probably noticed that they mention, from time to time, a podcast named “The Greatest Movie EVER! Podcast”. This is not an anime podcast. They review movies, and for most parts, the live action ones. But there are some episodes of this show, that were dedicated to anime movies.

But this is a big podcast and it is not convenient to go though all their stuff in search of those few episodes. So, I did it for you. This week I present you with al the anime related episodes of “The Greatest Movie EVER! Podcast” (at least, all that I could find).

Akira

Hope you like the podcast. See you next week (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. June 10, 2013.

This week I am going to give you another two episodes of Destroy All Podcasts podcast. It is worth it, even if it is two posts dedicated to the same podcast in a row.

The first episode I have chosen is the one where they did review for Cutey Honey, quite an old anime. The way they discussed the show, it was interesting to listen to. Not that it made me want to watch the show.

cutey honey

Here is the link to the episode: Destroy All Podcasts DX Episode 174 – Cutey Honey.

For the second episode I’ve chosen their review of one episode of Transformers.  Transformers is such an old show and I think I watched it when I was a kid, though I might be wrong. At any rate, it is interesting to hear grown up people talk about this show for young kids.

Here is the link to the episode: Destroy All Podcasts DX Episode 239 – The Transformers: War of the Dinobots.

Hope you like the podcasts that I brought you this week. Till the next time, see you (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. June 5, 2013.

Oh, I almost forgot about this week podcast of the week post. I had the podcasts prepared and yesterday I was thinking that it is too bad that I will have to wait a week to post them. Well, tells you about my focus.

This week I found new podcast that is really worth checking out. I am talking about Destroy All Podcasts. That is not anime only podcast, they talk a lot about movies, comics and books and what not, but I will feature their anime episodes here.

So let me tell you about this podcast. First, it has a lot of hosts. I have a feeling that I haven’t seen all of them yet. The two hosts that I have seen a lot are Jeremy and Mike. Both of them seems to be old anime fans and, as many of the old fans, they are interested in mecha shows and have a lot to say about the genre. That is the thing about good anime podcasts. Usually the best ones are hosted by people who has been watching anime since 90s or even before that. And it happens that they are interested in anime from this time more than modern anime fans. Just because new fans haven’t watched all those shows from 80s and 90s. And that is why the topics and shows that people discuss on anime forums (where usually there are a lot of young fans) and anime podcasts are often so different.

Coming back to the podcast, let me briefly mention good and bad points. The good points are that the hosts know what they are talking about, they are not hating on shows they don’t like, stay focused on one topic. Oh, and Mike’s voice is really similar to the voice of Near (Death Note character) in English dub, which makes it funny when he starts talking about toys and stuff like that =)

Destroy all podcasts

For this week I bring you two episodes of the show. First episode is “Twelve Questions about Mecha Anime”. Here is the link: Destroy All Podcasts DX Episode 261 – Twelve Questions about Mecha Anime. In this episode they answer 12 question about mecha. At the very beginning they discuss why the turn mecha is not really a good term, so..it is interesting, listen to it.

mazinkaiser skl

The second episode is “Mazinkaiser SKL”. Here is the link: Destroy All Podcasts DX Episode 248 – Mazinkaiser SKL. There they discus what seems to be a quite funny show with heavy metal and giant robots.

Hope you like the new podcast that I found for you. See you next time (^_^)/

Anime podcast of the week. May 27, 2013.

Sorry for skipping the last week. I have been listening to a lot of different podcasts during the last two weeks. But I wasn’t able to peek one podcast. Well, let’s see what I will be able to do about it today.

For this week I bring you two episodes of 2 Guys and a Mic podcast. I know, there were many 2 Guys and a Mic episodes here lately. But well, right now we don’t have too many high quality anime podcasts, and so I put a lot of episodes from the same four or five best ones. And one of them, fightbait, seems to be inactive for a couple of month. So, I have only so many choices =) If you know about a good podcast that I should check out, please, tell me about it.

The Familiar Zero

As you know, 2 Guys and a Mic make reviews. Each episode contains one. The episodes I choose deal with The Familiar Zero and The World God Only Knows anime. Here are the episodes:

Check them out and I hope you like them. I must warn you though, there are lots of jokes that might not be suitable for young kids. See you next week (^_^)/
